Thank you for contacting us. Anyone can get involved in LEED. It does not matter if you have previous building or construction experience. You can pursue a LEED Green Associate accreditation or pursue and advanced LEED specialty. First you will need to take a basic exam prep study course. This is a prerequisite to taking the LEED Green Associate exam.

please share with me if there is a centre that i can take the exam here in Singapore. thank you.

Hi Marian, thanks for your comment. The LEED exams are administered by Prometric, a third-party test-proctoring company with testing centers in nearly every major city in the world. To locate the nearest test center to you, please visit http://www.prometric.com/gbci. You’ll want to click the Locate a Test Center button in the center of the page and then choose Green Business Certification Inc. for both Test Sponsor and Select a Program. Finally, you’ll select LEED Green Associate as your desired test. The next path will ask for your location and desired test dates. The exam scheduler will then show you exam appointments that are available at nearby testing centers.

    Good day Sir/Mam:

I’m a practicing interior designer here in Manila Philippines and will soon be emigrating to the USA as an immigrant. I would very much like to continue practicing my profession there in the US and am very much interested in getting accreditation foe LEED. I would like to know the requirements with regards to this

Thank you for your interest in LEED. LEED is fast becoming the industry standard for green building , and no matter what experience you have in the design and construction industry (and even if you have no experience whatsoever), you are making a wise decision for your career and for the environment. You will need to find a qualified training provider that can educate you about LEED, and can walk you through the testing process. You must pass an exam prep course prior to sitting for the most basic, LEED Green Associate exam. Call 1-800-460-2575 and we will be able to answer your questions.

      Hi Shalini,

I did some research on the green MBA program you referenced. While you may learn some principles that are similar to what’s covered by LEED, this program is not a LEED accreditation and SFIA is not affiliated with LEED. Have a great day!

      Hello Abhishek,

Yes, you can pursue the LEED Green Associate credential while attending college. You should enroll in a LEED training program so you can become familiar with the information that will be on the LEED Green Associate exam. Find a LEED training course near you at http://www.everblue.edu/leed-certification or by calling 1-800-460-2575. You will only be able to complete the LEED exam application with the Green Building Certification Institute after you have received a certificate of completion from your LEED training course. Hi Fadi, you might consider pursuing a LEED accreditation so you can best contribute to such a project. You would want to start with the LEED Green Associate accreditation. This is the mandatory starting point for anyone wanting to get involved in LEED. This designation denotes basic understanding of green building, design, and operations. You would feel a lot more confident and comfortable working on LEED projects with this basic understanding. From there, it sounds like you would want to advance to a LEED AP with Specialty designation, perhaps LEED AP Interior Design and Construction (ID+C). This specialty speaks to the commercial interiors interest that you have identified. With this advanced designation, you would be more than proficient in leading commercial interiors projects. Please give us a call at 800-460-2575 if you have any other questions!

Hi Lan, you might consider enrolling yourself and your coworkers in online LEED training. This is especially convenient for groups with varying work schedules. With online training, each person can watch the content at their convenience – from their home, on their computer, whenever they are available to do so. Online learning is also beneficial because it allows you to digest the information in bite-sized chunks. You can rewatch the online content as many times as you would like. This is very helpful for LEED preparation. To get started, or to learn more, please call us at 800-460-2575.

      • 21. leedexperts  |  November 23, 2015 at 4:22 pm

Hey Pham – yes, you can still work toward a LEED credential after enrolling in online learning. The USGBC has partnered with Prometric to administer all LEED exams, so the exam prep training is a completely separate process from testing. You will learn everything you need during our online LEED training course, and then you can go on to take your LEED exam at your nearest Prometric testing center.

Hi Gloria, the process to become LEED accredited could take as little as 30 days. I would recommend enrolling in a LEED exam prep course to focus your efforts. Such a course lasts 2 days. A live classroom course will cost $595. An online webinar would cost $299. From there, you should study on your own for about 20 hours. Then, the LEED exam itself is a 2-hour test. The exam costs $200. For more information, please call 800-460-2575.

As a Mechnical Engineer, it would certainly benefit you to understand basic sustainability concepts, as more and more building is going in this direction. LEED is most common among engineers and architects. There is a $299 fee for online LEED exam prep training. The exam costs $200. It is online, with 100 questions. You have 2 hours to complete the exam. Because the test is online, you will know your score immediately upon completion. You must score a 170 out of 200 to pass. You can choose from a live webinar, where you would have the ability to interact with the instructor in real-time while viewing the presentation, or you can choose an on-demand webinar, which is a recorded presentation. With the on-demand webinar, you have access to the content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You’re able to pause, rewind, or restart the presentation at your convenience. Hi Thiru, commissioning is a prerequisite under the Energy and Atmosphere section of LEED, and in that sense, can be a requirement. Your skill set is valuable in this regard because it furthers the chances that a building will earn LEED Certification. LEED project teams that lack this skill set would come to you to provide commissioning services. This could be a new stream of clients for you. In short, earning your LEED accreditation would make you more marketable as a commissioning engineer and thus attract clientele specializing in LEED projects. Yes, you can certainly enroll in this LEED training program given your occupation and experience. LEED is a great option for learning how to make a commercial building more “green,” or sustainable. Since you are already in the business of providing energy efficiency recommendations and solutions in commercial buildings, LEED would be a great complement to your job responsibilities. You will want to become a LEED Green Associate first (this is the mandatory starting place for everyone), and then it might be beneficial for you to advance to a LEED AP with Operations + Maintenance specialty. Hi Marin, I’m afraid I’m not entirely knowledgeable about the trouble you are running into. I suspect that Prometric has flagged your registration because you have not yet paid for the exam. You must first pay for your LEED exam with the U.S. Green Building Council. After you have paid, you will receive an Eligibility ID number by email. Prometric will likely ask for this Eligibility ID number to ensure that you have paid for the exam. Upon providing this information to Prometric, you will then be granted access to actually schedule your exam. Does this resolve the issue for you?

Hi Eugene, you will need to then pay the $250 exam fee directly to the U.S. Green Building Council. You can do so online here: http://www.usgbc.org/credentials. You will then want to schedule your exam appointment with your local Prometric Testing Center. You can do this part here: http://www.prometric.com/gbci

Either way, you will need to pass your LEED Green Associate exam before you attempt a LEED AP with Specialty. Are you already a LEED Green Associate? We do offer online training for LEED GA. Hi Kamran, a LEED credential would definitely be valuable to you in your career. It seems like a perfect fit, actually. This credential will help you to learn more about green building so that you can make more informed decisions at the planning, design, construction, and operations phases of a building project. What’s great about LEED is that it covers a wide range of topics to help address the sustainability of the entire building and all phases of its construction. All candidates must first pass the LEED Green Associate exam. I would recommend any of the training courses available here: http://www.everbluetraining.com/leed-exam-prep/green-assoc-exam-prep

Yes, a second-year civil engineering student can appear for the LEED exam. The only requirement is that you are at least 18 years old. There really aren’t any other eligibility requirements, but LEED Exam Prep training is certainly recommended. You can find LEED training and preparation materials here: http://www.everbluetraining.com/leed-exam-prep/green-assoc-exam-prep. After training, you will purchase your LEED exam from the U.S. Green Building Council and then schedule your exam appointment at your nearest Prometric testing center. • 101. leedexperts  |  June 13, 2016 at 2:37 pm

Hi Kamal, there is not a specific course or credential for healthcare with regard to LEED. Let me back up – LEED is a certification system for buildings. There are different guidelines, or rating systems, per building type. There is a rating system for Healthcare. What this means is that building professionals can take into account certain techniques in a healthcare environment. Most LEED Exam Prep courses are going to prepare individuals to earn a LEED credential. In this case, you would want to earn the LEED Green Associate designation to learn about LEED and then you might choose to upgrade to a LEED AP with a specialty in Building Design & Construction or Operations & Maintenance. As you can see, these are not focused on healthcare specifically but the strategies therein can be applied to healthcare facilities. If you are looking for a short course about how LEED and healthcare can be related, please see this course: http://www.usgbc.org/node/4813572. Note that this course will not prepare you to earn a LEED credential, only educate on LEED in a healthcare environment.

    • 109. leedexperts  |  September 8, 2016 at 3:39 pm

Hey Tom, thanks for your question. To get started with LEED, you will actually want to begin with the pursuit of the LEED Green Associate credential. This is the first step for all candidates. After you pass the LEED Green Associate exam, you may decide to upgrade to the LEED AP with a specialty in Interior Design + Construction (ID+C). So, you’ll need to take 2 exams – LEED Green Associate followed by LEED AP ID+C. You can literally take both exams in one sitting, but we don’t usually recommend this option because it is a 4-hour exam with no breaks and if you fail either part – GA or AP – you walk away empty-handed. We recommend that candidates approach one exam at a time for maximum success. We have designed our exam prep training in this way. You can view our LEED Green Associate Exam Prep options here: http://www.everbluetraining.com/leed-exam-prep/green-assoc-exam-prep. I hope this helps!

This level covers all the fundamental information regarding the LEED standard and LEED certification process. We offer LEED Green Associate Exam Prep courses that help you learn that information. You can see more about our live and online courses here: http://www.everbluetraining.com/leed-exam-prep/green-assoc-exam-prep. During class, we also go over the steps for registering for the exam. As for your HVAC background, LEED can appeal to individuals from a variety of occupational industries. It all depends on what you plan to do with the LEED credential. With knowledge of HVAC, you are definitely in line with what LEED has to offer. However, be aware that LEED is predominantly focused on energy efficiency and green building, so plan to expand your skill sets in these areas. Hope this helps!

If your work as a civil engineer has anything to do with “green” building or sustainability, you might find value in LEED. The building industry as a whole is moving more in the direction of high-performance green structures, so this could be a marketable asset to your list of skills.

Yes, the largest Education Partner for LEED is Everblue Training Institute. Everblue offers live and online LEED Exam Prep training. You will want to start with taking the LEED Green Associate Exam Prep. After the training, you will need to purchase your LEED Green Associate Exam from the U.S. Green Building Council and then schedule your exam appointment with your nearest Prometric Testing Center. Hi Noor, thanks for your question. LEED helps facility managers control energy use in their buildings through a variety of strategies that span the design, construction, and operations of a project. You can learn more about what LEED is and who should earn it here: http://www.everbluetraining.com/what-is-leed

Hi Alam, it sounds like your background makes you a perfect candidate for a LEED professional credential. LEED knowledge will help you take your marketing efforts for the air purification company to the next level by advertising to prospective clients that your product is compliant with LEED standards. To learn more about LEED, you will want to become a LEED Green Associate. This requires passing a professional exam. If you’re new to LEED, you should definitely enroll in a LEED Green Associate Exam Prep course. To see course options, go here: http://www.everbluetraining.com/leed-exam-prep/green-assoc-exam-prep

Hi Muzammil, in order to earn the LEED Green Associate designation, you will need to first purchase the exam from the U.S. Green Building Council. Then you will schedule your 2-hour testing appointment with Prometric, a third-party test-proctoring company. Prometric has testing centers in nearly every major city in the world. There is a very high likelihood that there will be a testing center in Bangalore. You can search for your nearest Prometric center here: http://www.prometric.com/gbci

Hi, Im Afzal, working as marketing Manager in trading company who deals with eco friendly SCM products like Silica Fume, Fly Ash, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag, Rice Husk Ash; where we recommend the concrete industries to use these products as cement replacement, by which it reduces energy consumption as-well-as CO2 Emissions & to fight global warming.

Now the redeay-mix concrete companies are asking us to bring LEED certification, can you advise us please. For your kind info we are already USGBC member.
    Thanks & Regards

Hi Afzal, thanks for your comment. It sounds like you are already working in an industry that looks at smart materials, so making the transition to LEED will be a great fit for you! If I may clarify, “LEED Certification” refers to a label for high-performance, sustainable buildings. “LEED Accreditation” refers to the industry professionals who are knowledgeable about the LEED standard and pass a credentialing exam. Which distinction do you need to achieve? Our organization specializes in LEED Accreditation preparation. We offer live & online exam prep courses. If this is the route you want to go, you will need to (1) learn the LEED exam concepts, (2) purchase the LEED Green Associate exam from the U.S. Green Building Council, and (3) schedule your 2-hour testing appointment with your nearest Prometric testing center. We go over all of these steps in greater detail during our course. Please visit our main company website at http://www.everbluetraining.com to see all of our LEED training options!

Hi Ayyoub, thanks for your question.

      1. We do not currently offer in-person LEED training in Saudi Arabia. However, we do offer two types of online training. We also offer in-person training in several locations throughout the U.S. You can see all LEED training options on our company website here: https://www.everbluetraining.com/leed-exam-prep/green-assoc-exam-prep

      2. All LEED candidates – regardless of education, occupation, or experience – are required to start at the LEED Green Associate level. After you pass the LEED Green Associate exam, you may choose to remain a LEED Green Associate OR upgrade to a LEED AP Specialty. There are five specialties to choose from: Building Design + Construction (new construction), Operations + Maintenance (existing buildings), Interior Design + Construction, Homes, and Neighborhood Development. Upgrading to a LEED AP Specialty means passing another exam.

      3. The LEED Green Associate Exam Prep ranges from $399-$699 depending on whether you choose online or live training, respectively. The exam is $250 and is paid directly to the U.S. Green Building Council through the usgbc.org website. We go over the exam process in greater detail during our exam prep course.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Adeline, thanks for your comment. Regarding LEED Exam Prep, there are educational institutions that exist. However, I will admit, that much of the training is available online. The only live classroom training I’m aware of comes from Everblue Training Institute, but even then, Everblue does not offer classroom training in Philippines at the time of this writing. I would suggest that you check out the live webinar and self-paced online webinar options. Regarding the LEED exam itself, you will be able to take the exam in the Philippines. The LEED exam is administered by Prometric, a third-party test-proctoring company with testing centers in nearly every major city in the world. You can locate your nearest testing center and schedule your exam by visiting http://www.prometric.com/gbci

Hi Mohamed, I’m not aware of any LEED training centers available on location in India. However, Everblue Training Institute offers two different online options for training – one is a live webinar (so it’s just like attending an in-person course, only the content is delivered over the Internet), the other is a self-paced online webinar. I’d encourage you to visit the Everblue website to see all of the LEED training options available.
